For Expectant Mothers

Having a child is one of the most incredible, unique and beautiful of all human experiences.

If you have decided to have your baby (or babies!) at the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie, we will be providing anesthesia services at the time of your child’s birth. Delivering a child is a team effort involving the Mother, her family, her doctor, the hospital nurses and staff, and an anesthesia provider. We are honored to share in this experience with you and your family.

When it comes to the uses of anesthesia in childbirth, most women fall into one of the following categories:

Those who are quite certain they will want pain relief

Those who haven’t made up their mind yet and won’t until in the delivery room

Those who would prefer to give birth without any pain relief

At the time of your child’s birth you may have decided on one of the above, and you may even change your mind during the delivery process. It’s your privilege and right to do so.  We want your experience to be everything you want it to be and will be by your side to help make this happen.

There are many sources on the internet that provide information about the uses of anesthesia during childbirth, but we’ve found none as good as that of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. We’ve included a link to this information below. If, after you read through it you still have questions, please call our office and ask if you can make an appointment to talk with one of our anesthesia providers.

We want to help in any way we can. We are by your side.
